When you’re strumming through chords you’re not necessarily hitting all of the strings on every strum. Sometimes you’ll only hit the first note or two of the chord on the down strum. And sometimes you’ll only strum the first two or three high notes on an up strum.

This is just one of many ways to add a lot of dynamics and complexity to your strumming patterns. In this strum I like to call the Easy Country/Folk Strum Pattern you’ll see this idea in action.

I want to thank you for this lesson, I have been trying to teach myself guitar for a little over 3yrs. now and have spent a large amount of money on on-line lessons. I’m doing good with changing chords but strumming has been a issue. I always tried to figure out how to strum all the strings down and at least 3 strings up,nothing ever sounded right, this lesson has helped so very much. THANK YOU Tomas

My favorite strum pattern that I learned specially using my finger tips. I use the tip of Thumb and point finger together can sped up to 120 beats easily.
