- DESCRIPTION
Jewel In The Ring features two melody sections: a single note lead and a harmonized lead.
When we play the harmonized section, we’re using a technique called double stops. Not because of the melody but because of the technique. Double stops are harmonized notes played on two strings at the same time. The strings are typically next to each other.
The harmonies we’re playing here are third harmonies. Meaning each harmony note is a third up from the primary note in the scale. This will make more sense later on, but try to remember how it sounds.

With lower notes on lower strings, I can mute with my palm when necessary, but I seem to get a lot of ringing with the B and E strings in this particular melody.

Hi Pat, I’m not sure I understand the question.
In the second part, I’m only picking the two harmonized notes together… I’m not sure what high strings you mean.
Hi Thomas, how would you mute ringing high strings in the 2nd part of the harmonies?
